Tourism
The District of Guysborough has what more and more people the world over are seeking in their leisure time. Peace, quiet and nature. Unspoiled natural beauty, rugged coast lines, fabulous sand beaches, pristine inland waterways. They are all here. The infrastructure needed to serve a natural tourism destination presents very real investment opportunities in the district.
Sport fishing, both inland and deep sea, including large species, offer real potential for development, as does big game hunting. Deer and bear are plentiful. There are numerous points of historical and cultural interest, including among the earliest fishing ports established during European exploration and the earliest communities of free people of African descent in North America. One of Canada’s leading travelling theatre companies, Mulgrave Road Theatre, calls Guysborough home.
Land is available for development, inland and in some coastal areas. The Municipality of the District of Guysborough is “open for business” and is available to assist potential investors, as is the Guysborough County Regional Development Authority.
