Summer Student Positions

The Municipality advertises for all positions as they become available. You can watch for Municipal job postings on this website or in local newspapers. The Municipality does not take applications when there are no positions available.

When opportunities on the horizon in the District come to fruition there will immediately be new job opportunities.  For example, the Melford Atlantic gateway will create 200 direct full time jobs, and as many as 1,500 in the related logistics park. In the resource sectors and tourism, there are also opportunities.


The Municipality of the District of Guysborough is currently accepting applications for the following summer student positions:

Waste Management Facility General Labourer Student Position– 1 opening (15 weeks)Public Works General Labourer Student Position– 1 opening (15 weeks)

Students will be directly responsible to the Departments of Public Works & Waste Management in carrying out maintenance, mowing, painting, property cleanup and general labour. This position will require experience in the above and strong communication skills.

The normal hours of operation are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday to Friday and the rate of pay is $10.85/hr. The anticipated start date is Monday, May 15, 2017.
